Ingredients
Scale
1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 cup club soda or sparkling water
1/2 cup lemon-lime soda (like Sprite or 7UP)
Ice cubes
Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)
Strawberries for garnish (optional)
Instructions
In a medium bowl, add the sliced strawberries.
Sprinkle the granulated sugar over the strawberries.
Add the fresh lemon juice.
Using a fork or potato masher, gently mash the strawberries to create a chunky, syrupy consistency.
Let the mixture sit for about 10-15 minutes to allow the sugar to dissolve and the strawberries to release their juices.
In a large glass or pitcher, combine the strawberry mixture with the club soda.
Pour in the lemon-lime soda.
Gently stir the mixture to combine without losing carbonation.
Fill a glass with ice cubes.
Pour the strawberry soda mixture over the ice, filling the glass about three-quarters full.
Garnish with fresh mint leaves and/or whole strawberries if desired.
Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
For a berry blend, mix in other berries like blueberries or raspberries.
For an alcoholic version, add a splash of vodka or rum.
For an herbal twist, muddle basil or rosemary with the strawberries.
To make it a slush, blend the strawberry mixture with ice.
